Small Factory Ring is a work of art jewelry designed by contemporary artist Kaori Tazoe and produced at a small, specialist, artisanal factory ‘Yazawa Manufacturing’ in Ota-ku, Tokyo. Many small factories perform precision metal cutting in Ota, and Small Factory Ring’s design incorporates hints of the small parts produced in this industrial area.
In addition to the sharp and simple industrial design, what is special about this work is that it features rings and ornamental heads that when screwed together result in a complted object.
Thanks to this structure, the design can be changed by putting together different parts, thus enjoying several combinations. Starting with the ‘YAZAWA’ model, new collaborative models will be developed in the future using the special technologies of other small factories in the Ota area.
